A wind turbine cleaning request needs to identify the surfaces: a tower section, a marked area or particular blade surfaces. Height alone does not define the work; geometry, condition and access matter too.

Power Drone plans and carries out this service with its in-house team in Luxembourg. We work with operators and their technical contacts to define the areas and organise cleaning suited to the installation.

Define the areas on the tower and blades

Cleaning may address visible deposits on a tower section or an identified need on blade surfaces. These areas must be located so we can understand their extent, orientation and possible approaches.

A set of photographs, references on a plan or maintenance observations can help prepare the request. Tell us about known coating defects and previous work: surface condition influences the method chosen.

The manufacturer's care instructions and the operator's information help define the surfaces and the conditions for the work.

Match the setup to the installation

Our cleaning solution offers capabilities of up to 120 m reach and 500 bar with a suitable ground installation. These are maximum equipment capabilities; your site conditions and the nature of the surfaces determine the setup actually selected.

Working pressure is chosen for the surface. The reachable height must also be assessed alongside turbine geometry and obstacles. This provides a practical basis for defining accessible areas and the service scope.

The quote covers the selected areas and proposed method. Detailed technical documents make that scope easier to define.

Cleaning equipment, with planning led by the site requirements

Your equipment and procedures provide the basis for the assignment. Our role is to match an appropriate cleaning setup to that scope.

A ground-based cleaning station
  1. A dialogue with your technical team

We start with the reported areas, their condition and the available turbine information. This helps define the target surfaces before equipment is deployed.

  2. Different platforms to assess the setup

Our range of solutions lets us consider height, surroundings and the cleaning system together, rather than defining the assignment from a single characteristic.

  3. A team in close contact with manufacturers

Manufacturer contact and the use of recent equipment inform our preparation. You deal directly with the in-house team responsible for the service.

Coordinate cleaning with operations

Arrangements are prepared with the person responsible for the installation: site access, ground equipment positions, turbine availability and working arrangements. The equipment needs to be planned with the people who know how the installation operates.

Within a wind farm, each turbine may have different needs. Turbine-by-turbine references help identify priorities and clarify the request. The availability conditions required for cleaning are agreed with the operator.

  • Identify each turbine and the areas to treat.
  • Share useful dimensions and surface information.
  • Prepare access and ground setup conditions.
  • Identify the technical contacts and agree how the assignment will be organised.

Keep a useful record for maintenance

If your maintenance team needs views of the treated surfaces, we specify the photographs and location references in the proposal. This makes it easier to connect each image to the relevant turbine and area.

If the initial need is to examine a defect, a visual inspection can be a separate assignment. Cleaning concerns surface maintenance; repairs or mechanical work require a different scope.

Based in Luxembourg, we also assess projects in France and Belgium according to their location and the installations involved.

Before your mission

Can you clean an entire wind turbine?

The scope depends on its dimensions, geometry and accessible surfaces. We define the selected areas with the operator using information about the turbine.

What pressure will be used?

Pressure is selected according to the surface, its condition and care guidance. The system's maximum capability is not a setting applied to every surface.

Does the turbine need to be made available for cleaning?

The conditions required for cleaning are prepared with your operations team. Turbine availability and site arrangements must be agreed before the assignment.

What information do you need for a wind farm?

Provide the location, turbine identifiers, known specifications and the areas to treat on each one. Include available photographs or findings.

Which wind turbine surfaces need cleaning?

Send the turbine specifications, references for the target areas and any photographs available. We will prepare the request with your operations contact.
