The DJI Osmo Pocket 4P is a 3-axis stabilized pocket camera designed to offer cinematic versatility through its dual-lens system.
Equipped with a 1-inch CMOS sensor for wide-angle and a dedicated mid-telephoto lens, this camera provides great creative freedom, from capturing expansive landscapes to detailed portraits with natural bokeh.
Compact and weighing only 230 g, it integrates advanced technologies such as 17 stops of dynamic range and the D-Log 2 profile, meeting the demands of content creators seeking high performance.
The Osmo Pocket 4P integrates a physical dual-lens system, allowing for shooting versatility without simultaneous image fusion. The 20 mm wide-angle lens, featuring a 1-inch CMOS sensor, provides a dynamic range of 17 stops thanks to LOFIC technology, ideal for landscapes or vlogs. Switching between focal lengths is performed manually via the touch interface or physical buttons, ensuring fluid continuity when zooming.
The mid-telephoto lens features a dedicated lens equivalent to 60 mm combined with a 1/1.28-inch CMOS sensor. Its f/1.8 aperture allows for generating natural bokeh, facilitating the creation of portraits with pronounced depth. Unlike digital cropping, this optical design preserves sharpness and detail, with calibration intended to maintain color homogeneity between the two lenses when alternating shots during recording.
The camera supports recording in 4K resolution with enhanced slow-motion capabilities. The wide-angle lens can reach 240 fps, while the mid-telephoto lens goes up to 200 fps. For professional production needs, the D-Log 2 10-bit profile is available, providing an extended dynamic range of up to 17 stops. This format manages high contrasts effectively, although its use is limited to 1× zoom only.
Additionally, the device offers advanced dynamic scene management via HDR video, which improves highlight and shadow rendering. Users can also apply built-in film tones, such as Film CC or Pastel, to stylize sequences directly during shooting. These image processing functions are exclusive to video mode and cannot be enabled simultaneously with Beautify smoothing options.
Mechanical 3-axis stabilization ensures fluid movement, coupled with ActiveTrack 8.0 technology for keeping the subject in the frame. This system allows for locking onto moving targets up to a 12× digital zoom. The Multi-Subject Tracking feature can isolate up to eight subjects simultaneously, automatically cropping the image to center them, although zoom is disabled when using this specific mode.
Tracking control relies on gesture capabilities with ranges varying by zoom factor, extending from 3 meters at 1× up to 15 meters beyond 3× zoom. Subject tracking performance is effective up to a distance of 50 meters for the highest zoom levels. Sufficient ambient lighting is recommended to optimize lock accuracy and gimbal system responsiveness.
The Osmo Pocket 4P features 103 GB of internal memory, expandable via a microSD card up to 1 TB. To simplify media management, the Auto-Transfer feature allows exporting files to a smartphone via the DJI Mimo app. This process runs in the background while the camera is powered off, following rules customizable by period or content type, while monitoring available space on the phone to avoid saturation.
The user interface relies on a 2-inch touchscreen displaying essential data like remaining recording time. Physical buttons below the screen allow for quick navigation, including progressive zoom with adjustable speed or access to custom functions assigned via the menu. Configuration allows assigning shortcuts like mode toggling or gimbal re-centering, optimizing operational ergonomics during quick shoots.
Battery life is 210 minutes, measured at 25 °C with 1 080p/24 fps resolution, Wi-Fi disabled, and screen off. Fast charging allows recovering 80 % of capacity in 18 minutes, reaching full charge in 32 minutes with a compatible charger. The operating temperature range is from 0 to 40 °C, while charging requires an environment between 5 and 45 °C.
Wireless connectivity operates via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.4, with transmission powers compliant with local standards, notably for the 5.8 GHz band limited to < 14 dBm in the CE zone. Compact dimensions and a weight of 230 g facilitate transport. Device usage must respect software limits, specifically for digital zoom which is excluded from Slow Motion, Timelapse, and Photo modes to maintain captured image quality.
